We don’t know of anyone who looks forward to oral surgery. At the office of Katie To, DDS, your complete comfort is very important to us, so we encourage you to talk to us about your concerns. We use advanced dental techniques and state-of-the-art technology that allows us perform oral surgery that’s safe, efficient, and as comfortable as possible.
Long Term Relationships Build Trust
Everyone here is committed to helping you relax, no matter what type of treatment you receive. We’ll work with you to overcome your anxiety about oral surgery by doing everything possible to put you at ease.
Building trusting, long-term relationships helps us to get to know you so we can understand your needs. That way, if oral surgery’s necessary, you’ll already know that you’re in the hands of friendly, familiar professionals who have your best interest at heart.
We won’t schedule your surgery until we’ve answered all your questions and explained why the procedure is necessary. With years of experience, Dr. To and our team have developed a gentle approach, and we know exactly what it takes to keep our oral surgery patients comfortable.
It’s always preferable to choose conservative treatments that preserve your teeth. But a situation may arise where severe decay, loss of tooth structure, or an abscess leaves us no choice but to remove the tooth.
There are a number of situations where we may recommend tooth extraction:
- A tooth has grown at an odd angle and threatens the position of other healthy teeth.
- A broken or decayed tooth is too damaged to be repaired with a root canal or similar procedure.
- If you have advanced gum disease, we may recommend tooth extractions to save the gums and the rest of the teeth.
- We’re preparing for orthodontic treatment and need to remove some teeth for the best results.
- A wisdom tooth is impacted or has erupted in such a way that it compromises surrounding teeth.
Losing a tooth is an overwhelming experience, no matter how controlled the circumstances are. But the members of our professional team have the experience and training necessary to guide you through the experience and make it as stress-free as possible.
Comfortable Sedation Options
Dr. To has years of experience in performing gentle, comfortable tooth extractions. With a procedure like tooth extraction, we always make sure you’re completely numb before we begin treatment. We know, however, that extraction is stressful for most people, so we offer conscious sedation options that make it easier for you to relax during treatment.
Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is very mild and gently relaxes you so you feel a little drowsy and dreamy. There are no lingering after-effects, and with nitrous oxide, you’ll be able to return to your normal activities immediately after your appointment
Oral conscious sedation is another type of sedation that has a very calming effect. You won’t “go to sleep,” but you will feel detached from the activity around you. Since you’re conscious, you’ll be able to communicate with Dr. To and our team so we can ensure that you remain comfortable throughout the procedure.
