We've always believed your mouth is a window into your whole-body health. Now we're adding another way to help you see the bigger picture. We're excited to introduce the InBody scanner at Center for Wellness Dentistry — a quick, non-invasive tool that looks beyond the scale to what your body is actually made of.

You might be wondering: what's a body composition scanner doing at a dental office? It's a fair question. But if you know our philosophy, it fits right in. As biological dentists, we've never seen the mouth as separate from the rest of you. Your oral health is tied to inflammation, hydration, blood sugar, and overall wellness — and this is one more tool that helps us understand the whole person in our chair.

What the InBody scanner measures. In just a minute or two, standing on the device and holding the handles, you get a detailed snapshot that the bathroom scale could never give you:

  • Muscle mass — how much lean muscle you're carrying, and whether it's balanced across your body
  • Body fat percentage — a far more useful number than weight alone
  • Visceral fat — the deeper fat around your organs that's most closely tied to inflammation and metabolic health
  • Body water — including how your hydration and fluid balance are trending

Why it matters here. The number on a scale tells you almost nothing about your health. Two people at the same weight can have completely different amounts of muscle, fat, and hydration — and completely different health outlooks. Body composition gives you a clearer, more honest starting point, and something you can actually track over time as you make changes.

For a practice built around whole-body wellness, that's exactly the kind of insight we love being able to offer. It's a tool for awareness, not a diagnosis — a way to help you understand your body and make informed choices alongside your other health providers.
