A Smarter Clean: GBT vs. Traditional Polishing

The Old Way

Traditional cleanings remove plaque and tartar with scalers, then finish with a spinning rubber cup and gritty paste for that smooth feel. It works—but the abrasive paste can wear on enamel, roots, and dental work, and the cup can't reach tight grooves, deep pockets, or hidden biofilm between teeth.

The GBT Way

GBT (developed by EMS) flips the script:

  • See it first. A disclosing dye stains plaque so nothing gets missed.
  • Blast it gently. A warm spray of water, air, and fine low-abrasive powder lifts biofilm and stains—even below the gumline and around implants—without scratching enamel.
  • Polish what's left. Only then does the hygienist target leftover tartar with instruments, exactly where needed.

Why You'll Like It

Gentler, more thorough, and friendlier to sensitive teeth, crowns, and implants. It reaches where rubber cups can't, and most patients find it more comfortable. (Fair warning: some miss that gritty "squeaky clean" feel at first—even though teeth are just as clean, if not cleaner.)

Bottom Line

Same goal, smarter method. Traditional cleaning scrapes and polishes; GBT detects, gently removes, and targets—a minimally invasive clean built on "do no harm."
